About

Topics Online was created in 2003 by a group of teachers and information professionals. The idea was to create a starting point for primary pupils researching topics on the Scottish 5-14 curriculum (now 3-18).

The aim is not to spoon feed pupils, but to give them enough quality, differentiated material to enable them to search, choose and evaluate information for themselves. There are over 3000 chosen web pages/sites linked from Topics Online.

We have also made available our activity sheets which accompany the links, primarily aimed at teachers who need ‘filler’ activities for pupils who are working ahead of target, or those who need an introduction to the vocabulary related to the topics. These are rated as Bronze, Silver and Gold. These files are available for download via the ‘Downloads’ tab.
